Boat insurance for New Mexico waterways
For New Mexico boaters, a useful coverage review includes time on the water, trailering and storage. Bring details about your boat or personal watercraft and the waters you plan to use so we can help you explore available protection.
Talk with our local team.
Ask about boat insurance, discuss your situation and learn what information is needed for a quote.
Share a few details and our agency will follow up. Submitting a request does not start coverage.

PLAN YOUR COVERAGE
Prepare for your New Mexico boating season
Use these questions to prepare for a conversation about the protection you need. Compare the actual policy terms, limits and deductibles before choosing.
Ask our agency for help- 01Describe where and how you boat
List your usual lakes, any out-of-state trips, storage location and water-sport use. Ask about navigation limits and exclusions.
- 02List the whole setup
Include the hull, engine, trailer and onboard equipment. Ask how each is valued and which deductible applies after a covered loss.
- 03Review liability and assistance
Discuss liability, medical payments, wreck removal and towing options. Confirm assistance availability for the waters you actually visit.
- 04Check education and registration
New Mexico generally requires a boating-education card for motorboat and sailboat operators born on or after January 1, 1989, with exemptions. Check registration requirements too.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
New Mexico
coverage questions.
Will my homeowners policy cover my boat?
It may cover only limited boating risks, with restrictions on size, horsepower or value. Ask whether separate boat coverage better fits your watercraft and use.
What if my lender or marina asks for insurance?
Bring its coverage requirements to the inquiry. A lender may require physical-damage protection, and a marina may require liability coverage even when state law does not.
What should I compare in a boat quote?
Check the settlement basis for the boat and motor, deductibles, navigation area, and selected towing or equipment options. Confirm any storage or seasonal-use conditions.
